Gardening is such a joy and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. In this blog, I'd like to share some pictures, thoughts and ideas about all kinds of gardening. I invite anyone who is interested, to join me in sharing our love of gardening. Flowers, vegetables, lawns and shrubs, indoor, outdoor.....anything to do with gardening.
I live in upstate New York, about 50 miles south of the Canadian border. Our winters are cold and summer is short. We can't plant our vegetable garden until the last week in May. It will last until August. We're in Zone 4.
This summer the tomatoes were unbelievable. We planted 18 plants and they yielded about 500 tomatoes. We canned many of them. Also had some herbs, snap peas, snow peas, crookneck squash, cucumbers, white eggplant, and onions.
The flowers were wonderful. Lots of pink cone flowers, hosta, zinnias, roses, peonies, crocus, hydrangea, daffodils, tulips, iris, lilies, geraniums, lily of the valley, daisies, and mums to name a few. It's getting colder now and so the grass is loosing it's color and there isn't much left of the gardens except the mums. We just winter-fed the grass, put the lawn chairs and lawn umbrellas away and are settling in for winter.
What is going on with your gardens? How did they do this summer? What are your plans for next spring?
Garden with joy,
Tina
